Midwest League Action: Games of August 16, 2009

Complete scoreboard

@Wisconsin 3, Beloit 1: Rattlers version | Snappers version

@West Michigan 7; South Bend 5: "The first home run (a solo shot in the second inning), I wasn't sure it would get out. It was a little wind-aided," said Nowlin, who is seventh in the Midwest League with a .308 average. "The second one (a two-run shot in the sixth), when I hit it, I knew it was out.

@Lansing 4, Great Lakes 0: Lugnuts version | Looooons version

@Fort Wayne 5, Dayton 1: “We didn’t get a whole bunch of hits (five in the game), but they hustled around the bases and ran the bases well,” TinCaps manager Doug Dascenzo said. “They maximized every hit they had and made it count.”

Cedar Rapids 18, @Clinton 3: “You can’t really fault anybody; we're working as hard as we can,” said LumberKings manager Scott Steinmann, who received his sixth ejection this season in the fifth inning. “You try to win the next two, tie the series, keep yourself afloat and take the momentum into the next series.”

@Burlington 6, Kane County 3: The Burlington Bees did something they haven't done since late May -- win back-to-back games at home.

Peoria 15 @Quad Cities 0: Peoria gave Quad-Cities a taste Sunday of what the Chiefs have been dishing out across the Midwest League throughout the season.
