@South Bend 4, Dayton 2: South Bend completed a four-game sweep of the Dayton Dragons, 4-2, in minor-league baseball action Thursday. Dayton entered the series one game ahead of South Bend in the chase for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Division. The Silver Hawks now own a three-game lead on the Dragons. South Bend is 29-30 in the second half of the Midwest League season, and Dayton is 26-33.

@Peoria 2, Quad Cities 1: The men behind the television cameras on the field might have been a little disappointed that there wasn’t the big pile on the mound after the Peoria Chiefs’ 2-1 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Thursday night. Although the victory put the Chiefs into the Midwest League playoffs for the first time since 2006, it’s merely step one towards a larger goal.
