If it's November, he must be in Philadelphia

In just over a year, Chris Snelling (Rattler Class of 2000) has been with the Mariners, the Washington Nationals, and the Oakland Athletics. Then, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays picked him up from Oakland.

Now, the Rays have traded him to an organization that already has some ex-Rattlers.

Phils Get Outfielder Snelling for Cash
The Phillies acquired outfielder Chris Snelling from the Tampa Bay Rays for cash on Tuesday.

Snelling hit a combined .246 with one home run and seven RBIs in 30 games with Washington and Oakland this year. He missed most of the season with a bruised left knee.
Pat Gillick, the ex-general manager of the Mariners, has picked up Greg Dobbs ('02) and Michael Garciaparra ('03). Tom Gordon (Appleton Foxes Class of 1988) is also on the Phillies. What do the Phillies have to say about Snelling?
"Chris has always had a great bat, but he has battled some injuries in the past," Philadelphia assistant general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "We feel he will be healthy this coming year and adds a left-handed hitter and some depth to our outfield."

it just seems to be what GMs do. they like to bring in who they're familar with. Even Bavasi did it, bringing in Scott Spezio, Jarrod Washburn, Jose Guillen, Jake Woods etc etc..
