Netherlands 2, Cuba 1. That's right. The Dutch beat Cuba.
Updated box scores and other finals later tonight.Another upset here at the 37th Baseball World Cup as the Netherlands beat Cuba 2-1 and improving to 5-2 in Pool B action.
The difference today was the Dutch pitching as Diegomar Markwell went 6 2/3 innings as he kept the Cuban offense silent surrendering only five hits. David Bergman was stellar in relief reitring all seven Cuban hitters he faced, striking out three and picking up the save. The Cuban team had not lost a game in the Baseball World Cup since November 11, 2001 (5-3 vs. Japan).
