May 26, 2009: Tonight's starting pitcher

RHP MICHAEL BOWMAN: Selected by Milwaukee in the ninth round of the 2008 draft out of Virginia Military Institute.

AS A KEYDET: Bowman was 4-6 in 18 games (13 starts) in his final season at VMI. Bowman struck out 82 and walked 25 in 91-2/3 innings while picking up an ERA of 3.44.

NICE COLLEGE CAREER: In three seasons at VMI, Bowman won 14 games, struck out 209 batters, and compiled an ERA of 3.32. All of those numbers are top five in the career categories at VMI.

BIG IN THE BIG SOUTH: Bowman was Second Team All-Big South Conference as a sophomore in 2007. He was also named Big South Pitcher of the Week on May 19, 2008.

ALL-AROUND: Was a three-year letter winner and earned Honorable mention all-district and all-academic at Deep Run High School in Richmond, Virginia. Also won a pair of letters as a high school quarterback at DRHS.

LAST SEASON: Bowman made four starts for the Helena Brewers before being promoted to West Virginia. He made eight appearances (four starts) for the Power. Combined for a 4-2 record with a 3.68ERA on the two stops in the Milwaukee system in 2009.

LAST START: Bowman gave up five runs on 10 hits over five innings at Kane County on May 21. He walked two and struck out two in the game. The Rattlers trailed 5-2 when Bowman left the game. But, Wisconsin rallied to take a 6-5 lead and get Bowman off the hook for the loss. The Cougars would score twice in the bottom of the ninth to beat Wisconsin 7-6.

HEY! WE’RE GOIN’ STREAKIN’: Bowman had a scoreless streak of 11-2/3 innings snapped in the first inning at Kane County.

VS. DAYTON: Tonight is Bowman’s first appearance against the Dragons.

VS. CINCINNATI: Bowman made a start against Billings, the Pioneer League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, on July 4, 2008. He allowed six runs on nine hits over four innings and took the loss. That was the last Pioneer League start made by Bowman.
