It's a little something about Taylor Green.
Not familiar with the third baseman? Well, he was only Milwaukee's minor league player of the year in 2007, when he hit .327 with 14 homers and 86 RBI at Class A West Virginia.I just got a chance to talk with Taylor for Timber Rattler Field Pass. Stay tuned to Sports 32 for the episode that will probably air next week. I asked him how much longer he would be with the club. It sounds like he may start the road trip with us in Kane County, but that may change a bit with the injury to Rickie Weeks and all of the movement in the system right now.
And he waltzed into 2009 rated by Baseball America as the eighth-best prospect in the Brewers system after hitting .289 with 15 jacks and 73 RBI last season at high-Class A Brevard County.
So far, so good in his four-game stint with the Rattlers, too. The 22-year-old third baseman, selected by the Brewers in the 25th round of the 2005 June draft, has seven hits in 14 at-bats, five runs scored, one memorable bomb that seemed to graze the sky and five RBI.
In baseball terms, that's what you call raking.
In Brewers terms, that's what you call a free pass to Double-A Huntsville — soon.
