Two pitchers have been the standouts in Barquisimeto this week. Renee Cortez has two seasons of Triple-A experience with the Tacoma Rainiers in the Seattle Mariners system. The 6-foot-4-inch right hander hit 94 mph on the radar gun on Tuesday. A long reliever throughout most of his career, Cortez is expected to be a starter with the Scorpions.Cortez was a Timber Rattlers pitcher in 2002 and 2003.
A place to follow the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League, Minor League baseball, Major League Baseball, and everything in between in that order.
