TV Characters are cheering for...

There was a rerun of Magnum, PI on this morning. That got me around to thinking about teams in the playoffs and which TV characters would be cheering for them.

The Tigers are easy.

There is even an episode called Tigers Fan.

There never seem to be any Yankee fans on Law & Order.

During a meeting with a defendant, Ben Stone, the ADA before Jack McCoy, was asked what he wanted by the opposing lawyer. Stone responded with something like, "World peace, the Mets in the World Series, and your client in Dannemora for 25 to life."

Detective Mike Logan was a Met fan, too. Or at least admitted to skipping school to go to Shea.

But, on Law & Order: Criminal Intent:

Detective Alexandra Eames had this exchange with ADA Ron Carver:

Carver: The man wants compelling evidence.

Eames: And I want a foot-massage from Derek Jeter.

I think that qualifies her as a Yankee fan.

Finding Padre fans were an easy one or should I say two:

In the second season, AJ was asked if the Padres were going to do well this season. His answer was: If the bullpen holds up and everyone stays healthy. On second thought, anyone could have said that. Rick always struck me as more of the baseball fan anyway.

I can't find video or transcript proof, but I have a definite feeling that Murray Slaughter from WJM-TV news is a Twins fan.

More on the A's, Cardinals, and Dodgers later.
