Ex-Caps manager lands MLB coaching job
Former West Michigan Whitecaps manager Matt Walbeck will be the third-base coach for the Texas Rangers for the 2008 season.

Walbeck, 38, was the manager of the Erie (Pa.) SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and guided the SeaWolves to an 81-59 first-place record in the Southern Division. He managed the Whitecaps from 2004-2006. West Michigan won the Midwest League Championship in '04 and '06 and Walbeck was named the MWL Manager of the Year in '06.

The story mentions that Tom Brookens, the Whitecap manager in 2007, will be considered for the Erie job. It was recently announced that Brookens would return to the Whitecaps in 2008. But, one move leads to another leads to another.
