Loons look to join the club...

What club is that? you may ask. The club of Midwest League clubs who host their state baseball tournaments...

Midland makes pitch to MHSAA to bring baseball/softball state finals to Dow Diamond, Emerson, NU
Minor League Baseball relocated from Battle Creek to Midland. Could the state high school baseball and softball finals be next?

Members of the Michigan High School Athletic Association will be in Midland next Monday to go over a proposal submitted by the Midland County Sports Capital Committee. The proposal is for Midland to host the state tournaments at sites including Dow Diamond, Emerson Park and Northwood University.
...

The state baseball finals have been held each June at Bailey Park in Battle Creek since 1990. Bailey Park's contract with the MHSAA runs out following next spring's championships. The finals were in Lansing in both sports from 1987-90.

"Logistically, that's the best thing going," MHSAA Communications Director John Johnson said of the finals being in Battle Creek. "You can park your car once and walk anywhere (to softball and baseball). But times change, and we're open to looking at what our options are."

If this happens, the folks in Battle Creek may be more upset about this than losing the Kazoos/Battle Cats/Yankees/Devil Rays.

The Rattlers are a member of the club of Midwest League clubs hosting State Baseball tournaments. Some of the Iowa teams have hosted the Minnesota....Kidding...the Iowa State Tournament in the past.
