...one minor league announcer's ham-handed attempt at historical perspective regarding the Brawl in Dayton.
What is it about a fight in a baseball game that both repels and fascinates? By now, everyone has seen the video of the ugliness in Dayton between the Dragons and the Peoria Chiefs. Emotions ran high - as did the spikes and beanballs - until finally the benches cleared.

Julio Castillo, a pitcher for the Chiefs, chucked a baseball at a group of Dragons charging out of the dugout. He missed the Dragons. The ball sailed into the crowd and a fan was hit in the forehead. That fan required hospitalization. Castillo has been demoted, suspended, jailed, fined, and his baseball career is probably over.

But, have things really changed that much?
