ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rattlers beat Kane County 8-7 in 13 innings. Maximo Mendez got down a suicide squeeze bunt with the bases loaded in the top of the thirteenth to break a 7-7 tie. The win ended Wisconsin’s three-game losing streak.

The Cougars scored their runs on a three-run double by Petey Paramore.

SMALL BALL: The Rattlers used three bunts in the thirteenth inning to take the lead. Terry Serrano reached base to start the inning with a bunt. After Joe White singled, Almonte dropped a sacrifice bunt. Juan Diaz was walked intentionally. Then, Mendez dropped the squeeze bunt with Serrano breaking from third on the first pitch of his at bat.
REDEMPTION SONG: Rattler closer Jeff Dunbar did not retire any of the five batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning on Saturday night. He was tagged with the loss as Kane County rallied from a 5-1 deficit for a 6-5 win. Last night – with a little help from Carroll and Ochoa – Dunbar pitched three scoreless innings to pick up his first win as a Rattler. After Cobb was thrown out at the plate, Dunbar retired the final seven Cougar batters he faced, including striking out Cobb to end the game.

He played third base in the bottom of the first, but left before the bottom of the second inning. Ochoa was down for a few moments after absorbing the collision with Cobb, but got up and left under his own power.
