Baseball History -- January 20

Complete entry for January 20 is at BaseballLibrary.com HERE.

Highlighted entries:
1984
In a move that stuns New York fans, the White Sox draft
Tom Seaver as compensation for losing Type A free agent Dennis Lamp to the Blue Jays. The Mets left Seaver off their protected list assuming —- wrongly — that no team would want to select the aging star, who finished 1983 with a 9-14 record and a 3.55 ERA.

This was the second time that the Mets lost Seaver and this is the reason that Seaver won his 300th game as a member of the White Sox.
1966
The BBWAA voters elect
Ted Williams to the Hall of Fame. Williams receives 282 of a possible 302 votes.

Wonder how many Boston members of the BBWAA were in the 6.6% who did not vote for Williams.
1906
The Giants sign
Christy Mathewson's untalented 19-year-old brother Henry Mathewson.

This is either the most insulting entry or the most truthful entry in the BaseballLibrary.com library.
