The Rattlers will be playing the Peoria Chiefs that Thursday. The manager of the Chiefs is Ryne Sandberg and the number 74 is represented by Sandberg.
During his MVP season in 1984, Sandberg had 36 doubles + 19 triples + 19 home runs = 74 extra base hits.
That is his plaque from the Baseball Hall of Fame, by the way.
