Tonight's Rattler Starting Pitcher (8/10)

RH KEITH RENAUD: Selected by Seattle in the 10th round of the 2007 draft out of Franklin Pierce College of New Hampshire.

JUST LIKE THE CITY: Renaud is pronounced Ree-know

WHAT A SEASON: Renaud was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year for the 2007 season as a junior. He went 6-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 12 starts for the Ravens. Renaud struck out 91 batters over 69 innings.

WITH THE BAT, TOO: Renaud delivered offensively, too. He hit .352 with six homers, 39 RBI, and 20 stolen bases

WITH HONORS: Was selected as an NCAA Division II All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

STARTING THE JOURNEY: Renaud’s professional career began with the Everett Aquasox of the Northwest League. He made one outing before joining the Rattlers on June 25, 2007. Renaud allowed three runs on two hits and two walks with a hit batsman and three strikeouts in 1-2/3 innings against Yakima on June 22.

FIRST PRO START: Renaud made his first professional start as a Timber Rattler on July 7, 2007 at Kane County. He allowed two runs on two hits, two hit batsmen, four walks, and two strikeouts over 2-1/3 innings and took the loss.

2007 AS A RATTLER: Renaud went 2-0 with a 3.50ERA in 18 games (2 starts) with Wisconsin in 2007. He walked 18 and struck out 30 in 36 innings.

2008 SO FAR: Renaud started the year with the High Desert Mavericks. He went 3-9 with a 7.68 ERA. Renaud joined the Timber Rattlers on June 27.

LAST START: Renaud allowed four runs on seven hits on August 5 at Clinton. He walked five and struck out three over six innings. Renaud started the seventh inning and did not retire either of the two batters he faced. Both runners would score and the Rattlers trailed 4-2. Wisconsin rallied to tie the game in the top of the ninth, but Clinton scored in the bottom the ninth for a 5-4 win.

VS. KANE COUNTY: Renaud has not faced the Cougars this season. Bu in 2007, he made his first professional start at Kane County. Renaud took the loss on July 7 at Elfstrom Stadium in a start that lasted 2-1/3 innings.

VS. ATHLETICS: Renaud was 1-1 in two starts against Stockton, the California League affiliate of the A’s, in his time with High Desert this season. Renaud allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits over 9-1/3 innings in those two games against the Ports.
