MiLB.com has a lot at their MWL All-Star game page with this story that features this quote from Joe Kantakevich.
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Mariners) pitcher Joe Kantekevich, contributed to the East "win" by emerging victorious in the closest-to-the-tee contest, but he wasn't looking around for any prizes.
"I think it's just for team pride," he said. "I like it, though. It's a nice twist and since I'm not a hitter, I wouldn't have been in the Home Run Derby."
So what about really switching things up and having a Home Run Derby for pitchers one year? The responses were mixed, with Kantekevich among those hurlers who would probably not be in favor of it.
"You'd have a lot of guys swinging too hard and hurting themselves," he laughed. "We had pitchers' batting practice one day this year and the next day everyone was sore."
