A call to arms

Darren Rovell, the CNBC Sports Business Writer who once cracked on the Timber Rattlers for the naming rights deal with Time Warner Cable -- and if I could track down that post, I'd provide a link and make this clause a bit longer -- but that is a whole other matter, is staging a Minor League Logo tournament at his Sports Biz blog.

The Timber Rattlers are a #13 seed and are facing the #4 Savannah Sand Gnats today. Head over there later this morning to vote the Rattlers into the next round. Voting continues until 9am CDT on Friday.

A little spice was added when someone from the Sand Gnats front office e-mailed the Rattler staff yesterday to wish us luck in this friendly competition. Little does he realize that there is no such thing as 'friendly competition'.


But, apparently there is such a thing known as a 'friendly sand gnat'.

Oh, it's on.
