I'm a little confused...

...more than usual after reading Jim Street's mailbag at the Mariners site.

It didn't set in until after the third answer though. The first two segments of the column deal with Rattler alumni (they have been bolded in the excerpts below)...so, here are Street's answers.

First about the rotation:
But as of right now, the rotation looks like this: right-hander Felix Hernandez and left-hander Cliff Lee at the top, followed by any combination of lefties Ryan Rowland-Smith, Garrett Olson, Luke French and Jason Vargas, and right-handers Ian Snell and Doug Fister.

Heading into camp, I would think Snell and Rowland-Smith are the leading candidates for the third and fourth spots in the rotation.
Next about the catching:
If you ask [Rob] Johnson how he's doing, he would say "great" and has no doubt that he will be completely healthy by Opening Day despite having three surgeries during the offseason, including one on each hip. He continues to rehab at the Peoria Sports Complex and I will check with him later this month when I visit the facility before returning to Seattle for the annual FanFest (Jan. 30-31) at Safeco Field.
...
[Adam] Moore is still regarded as the best all-around catcher on the roster, but I believe the organization would prefer sending him back to Triple-A at least to start the season.
Now here is the part that absolutely throws me...In full...
What teams can we expect to see guys like Joe Dunigan and Alex Liddi play for next season, and how far away are they from their big league debuts? Is there a chance of a September callup for these guys in 2010?
-- Ben T., Spokane, Wash.

The two blue-chip prospects had superb seasons for Class A High Desert (California League) in 2009 and I would expect both of them to begin this season at Class A Wisconsin (Midwest League).

Dunigan was among the small number of Class A players invited to play in the Arizona Fall League. He gradually improved during the six-week season and was, according to Javelinas manager Kevin Bradshaw, the most improved player on the team that won the championship.

The reports on the Italian-born Liddi are exceptional. He was among the leading hitters in the California League last season (.348), and he could be on the fast track through the farm system. That being said, I doubt that either would make their Major Leagues debuts this season.
Really, Jim? Setting aside the fact that Clinton is now entering its second season as Seattle's Midwest League affiliate, wouldn't a move from the Cal League to the MWL be a demotion? Don't you mean West Tennessee? Harwell knows I've made a lot of mistakes on this blog...in fact this morning, I forgot to include Jorge Sosa's performance in the Alumni Report and I intend to fix that soon...but, really, dude?
