More news from West Tennessee

There is new ownership on the horizon for Seattle's Double-A franchise in the Southern League. The first question that pops into the head of a fan of a team with a looming ownership change gets answered in the headline to this Jackson Sun story.

Jaxx won't relocate
Reese Smith III, future president of the Diamond Jaxx, is eager to calm the concerns of area fans who fear the Double-A baseball franchise will be relocated.

"We have no intention of moving that team," Smith said Thursday. "We want to make it go there in Jackson, and not just for one year. I'm hearing all sorts of rumors like, 'Reese lives in the Franklin area and will move the team there, or Savannah (Ga.) is building him a stadium.' That's not the case. We're going to give it every possible chance to work in Jackson, and we really, truly think it will work."
There is a reception for the new ownership group in Jackson on Wednesday and the public is invited. They will be happy to hear this:
One year remains on the contract between the city and the Jaxx franchise, but Gist said an extension will be discussed after the sale is completed.
The sale still needs the approval of Minor League Baseball and Major League Baseball. That should be along in the next few weeks.

There is much more at the link.
