News from Pulaski

There was a story from the Winter Meetings about a potential Mariner affiliate in the Appalachian League. There is more on that potential becoming a reality from The Roanoke Times.

Pulaski may get new Appalachian League team
After an absence of a year, it appears rookie league baseball may be returning to Pulaski.

Pulaski Baseball Inc. president Tom Compton said he hopes that the Seattle Mariners will make an announcement that it will field an Appalachian League team in 2008 in Pulaski.

“I hope so,” Compton, said. “Neither [PBI secretary-treasurer} Wayne Carpenter nor I have spoken to Seattle since the winter meetings.”

A Pulaski town official, who requested to remain anonymous because the deal hasn’t been finalized, said the Mariners met with a delegation of town officials led by town manager John Hawley to tour Calfee Park, which would be the club’s home field.
I am pretty sure that this will be in addition to and not a replacement of the current Short Season team in Everett, Washington.

There isn't much more to the story. But it is developing.
