Brian Rupp, who was ticketed to once again manage Class A Burlington (IA), will now skipper Class A Advanced Wilmington next season. Rupp, who will be in his sixth season managing in the Royals organization, led Burlington to the Midwest League title in 2008.On his lineup card, Gabella puts WP next to his starting pitcher. The WP stands for Winning Pitcher.
Former Wilmington manager Darryl Kennedy will now run the Royals extended program in Surprise, Ariz., before managing at Idaho Falls (R) beginning in June. Kennedy, now in his third season with the Royals, skippered the Blue Rocks to the Carolina League playoffs last season.
Jim Gabella, who served for four seasons as the manager at Burlington (IA) before spending 2008 with Idaho Falls, will reunite with his hometown Bees as the manager of Burlington in 2009.
A place to follow the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League, Minor League baseball, Major League Baseball, and everything in between in that order.
