Midwest League Action: Games of April 17, 2009

Complete scoreboard

@Clinton 8, Wisconsin 4: The Clinton LumberKings took advantage of four Wisconsin Timber Rattler errors and got a fine pitching performance from Brett Lorin ('08).

@Great Lakes 8, South Bend 1: Ethan Martin showed Friday why Baseball America ranks him as the third-best prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system.

@Fort Wayne 8, Dayton 3: Angel Mercado had two hits in his first 10 at-bats this season. The left fielder doubled the figure in the seventh inning.

@Beloit 6, Burlington 5 (F/10):
Burlington reliever James Thompson kept feeding Beloit Snapper hitters slider after slider Friday night.

For 2 2/3 innings, that slider dominated the Snappers' hitters at Pohlman Field.

But it was exactly what Ramon Santana was looking for in the bottom of the 10th.
@Kane County 7, Cedar Rapids 1: All seven of the Cougars’ runs were scored on the four home runs, and it was more than enough in a 7-1 win to even the series with the Kernels at a game apiece heading into the weekend.

@Quad Cities 4, Peoria 2: "I think we're just getting comfortable with each being on a team together, getting to know each other. It takes time, but we're finding out that we all like to win," the Bandits' Chris Swauger said

West Michigan 4, @Lansing 3 (F/10): Billy Nowlin went 3-for-3 with a walk and a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the tenth inning, lifting the West Michigan Whitecaps (6-1) to a 4-3 victory over the host Lansing Lugnuts
