Rookie impresses with bat this time

Alcides Escobar has so much to learn, so much experience to gain to be a consistent everyday shortstop in the major leagues.

And he's got such a nice foot in the door.

"That's the scary part," said Milwaukee Brewers coach Willie Randolph. "He's doing it on sheer talent right now. He's only going to get better as he continues to learn up here."

Escobar showed there's more to his game than defensive wizardry Wednesday night at Wrigley Field by leading the Brewers to a 9-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs with four hits, three runs batted in and two runs scored out of the No. 8 spot in the lineup.

"The young man had a great game out there," said Brewers manager Ken Macha, whose club bounced back from an ugly 13-7 defeat the previous evening.
