Burlington scored twice in the top of the first inning and three pitchers made it stand up for the win. The Back-to-back dream stays alive for the Bees.
But, they not only have a long bus ride tonight, they will have to go through the team with the best Record in Minor League baseball after Fort Wayne won game three at home over Great Lakes by a 4-3 score in 10 innings.
The Looooooons are going to be kicking themselves after letting this one get away.
Great Lakes broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the top of the seventh, but the TinCaps rallied back to tie the game 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh. But, it was the eighth inning that is going to make for a long off-season in Midland.
Loons score a run in the top of the eighth to go up 3-2. Cole St. Clair comes into the game and gets the first two outs to put the Loons to within four outs of their first appearance in the Championship Series. Then....
# Jaff Decker hit by pitch. Then, in the bottom of the tenth...
# Vincent Belnome doubles (4) on a fly ball to center fielder Nick Buss. Jaff Decker scores. Vincent Belnome out at 3rd, center fielder Nick Buss to second baseman Parker Dalton to third baseman Anthony Hatch.
#Robert Lara homers (1) on a fly ball to left center field.I'm guessing the fans went crazy!
During the regular season, Lara had two homers in over 200 at bats. I don't think he'll need to buy a drink in Fort Wayne for awhile. Especially since this is the first time the Fort Wayne Midwest League franchise is going to the MWL Finals. They have been in the league since 1993.
Game One of the MWL Finals is Tuesday night in Fort Wayne.
More in the morning.
