Mariner Mailbag

Corey Brock of mlb.com answers questions in Mariner Mailbag.

One question involves a member of the 2005 Timber Rattlers.

What are the chances of Yung-Chi Chen making it to the Major Leagues in 2007?-- Oliver C., Taipei

I wouldn't expect to see the 23-year-old Chen making it to Seattle this season. After all, he only reached Double-A last season, hitting .295 with San Antonio after hitting .342 with five home runs and 48 RBIs with Class A Inland Empire. Chen, a second baseman, is regarded as Seattle's ninth-best prospect according to Baseball America. Chen has a live bat, though his defense isn't considered his strong suit. Chen could begin the season again at San Antonio or possibly Triple-A Tacoma. However, his path to Seattle won't be easy, as All-Star Jose Lopez blocks his path.

Um, Corey. I hesitate to point this out, (Lord knows I'm about as far from perfect as a person can get...Just find the typos and mistakes in today's posts so far) but: If Chen starts the season at San Antonio, he will have been traded to the Padres. I think you mean West Tennessee.
