Twelve years later, the Red Sox signed Daisuke Matsuzaka for $100 million.
1953
The Athletics change the name of
Shibe Park to Connie Mack Stadium, in honor of their longtime owner and manager.

Two years later, the Athletics moved to Kansas City not in honor of Connie Mack.
1898
President John T. Brush of the Cincinnati club dismisses criticism of his proposed league resolution to punish players who use vulgar and obscene language on the field, saying newspaper criticism is the result of ignorance.

Fifteen minutes later, a newspaper writer told Brush to go.......jump in the lake.
