Alumni Report

Jay's latest Alumni Report was posted over the Thanksgiving holiday at the main Timber Rattler site.

Some of the stuff has been here. But, I'm pretty sure this wasn't:

Philadelphia granted OF Chris Snelling ('00) free agency; Declined their 2009 option on RHP Tom Gordon ('88); Signed LHP Jason Mackintosh ('04)

Maybe one of these years Snelling will be healthy and be able to show his talent. After playing in 255 games his first three seasons in the states, the Aussie played in only 370 games from 2002-08. 20 years after playing for the Appleton Foxes, Gordon pitched in 34 games for the Phillies, going 5-4 with a 5.16 ERA at age 40. Despite putting up good numbers at West Tennessee (5-4, 2.86 ERA), Mackintosh was released by the Mariners during the season and signed by the Phillies. He impressed them enough in 11 games with AA Reading (2.76 ERA) to earn another shot in '09.

Nor was this:

New York Yankees agreed to terms with LHP Damaso Marte ('96) on a three-year contract

Acquired in a trade from the Pirates during the season, the Yankees locked up the 33 year old Marte for three more seasons.

Plenty of Winter League stats over there, too.
