Almost there

Spring dates bring extra anticipation

On Feb. 15, all will be right with the world again.

Andy Pettitte and the rest of the Yankees' pitchers and catchers will begin their first workout that day in Florida. Yadier Molina, whose bat came out of nowhere to help the Cardinals to the World Series last October, will be on the field again for the first time since the celebration, just across the Everglades.

Barry Zito will be tossing a baseball as a Giant in Arizona while new manager Brucy Bochy watches, and Ted Lilly will be working with Cubs pitchers for the first time while Lou Piniella looks on with great anticipation.

For fans of 30 Major League Baseball teams, there ought to be a chill going down your spine right now. One of the coolest announcements of any offseason came down from Major League Baseball on Tuesday, and that is the one with the following heading: "SPRING TRAINING WORKOUT DATES ANNOUNCED."

Seattle's pitchers and catchers report on February 15 with the rest of the team scheduled for the 20th.

Side note or something that makes you go hmmmmmm: Isn't it interesting that the official mlb.com story on the starting dates of Spring Training leads off with the latest addition to the New York Yankees?
