The laundry cart outfielder Michael Wilson pushed out the Major League side of the clubhouse and into the nearby Minor League clubhouse was filled with his personal gear.
"It was a great experience, something I'll always remember," the 23-year-old Wilson said Friday, the final day of his first big-league Spring Training camp. "I learned a lot in the time I was here, especially from Raul [Ibanez]. He helped me out a lot."
Wilson said he basically was a "sponge" during his three weeks in camp, soaking in information on how the veterans prepared for each day of workouts, realizing that a solid work ethic would make him a better player down the road.
"I have a lot of work to do," he said.
Also, Mariner Minors provides a link to the story about and has a rundown of the minor league releases from Mariner camp HERE.
The Seattle P-I Blog is listing a few releases, the biggest one being RHP Jesse Foppert, though minor league RHPs Jared Eichelberger, Will Fenton, Rocky Collis, Cory Koliscak and Justin Jordan and IF Matt Vogel. These are the kind of releases every team makes around this time in spring training, the natural consequence of prospects moving up the ladder and pushing out players who have become space-fillers without much money invested in them. Sometimes there are injuries involved that never quite make it to the public, but it’s usually just the better players pushing them out.
Jordan (WI '05) and Koliscak (WI '06) are the only ex-Rattlers on the list.
