Something I didn't know

From a television station in Lansing, Michigan:

State Runs Out of Money to Clean-up Toxic Sites

The state has run out of money to clean up toxic land.

Clean up crews may have to abandon contaminated sites if the Department of Environmental Quality doesn't get more funding.

Oldsmobile Park for years has been home to the minor league baseball team the Lansing Lugnuts, but the land wasn't always a baseball stadium.

Steven Chester, Department of Environmental Quality: "A few years back there wasn't much there, and there was a contamination that needed to be immediated before that park could be put in place. So we provided the funding to make that happen."

Steven Chester is the Director of Michigan's Department of Environmental Quality.

He says Oldsmobile Park is one of thousands of formally toxic sites, the department has cleaned up.

But those cleanups may soon be a thing of the past.

The Rattlers are there for only three games this year: May 1-3.
