Game Story:
In other words, don't mess with Sabathia when he has his mind set on something. Pitching on short rest for the second consecutive start, the big lefty turned in seven strong innings to lead the Brewers past Pittsburgh, 4-2, at Miller Park.

By winning three consecutive games for the first time this month, the Brewers pulled into a tie for the National League wild-card lead with the New York Mets, who lost to the Chicago Cubs, 9-6, in 10 innings.

It's tied with four games to go. And guess who will get the ball Sunday, again on short rest, if the Brewers need to win to snap their 26-year playoff drought?

Rattler tie-in: Rickie Weeks walked three times last night. As a member of the Beloit Snappers, Weeks drew two walks and was hit by a pitch in a game against the Timber Rattlers at Miller Park on August 14, 2003. That was Weeks' third game as a Snapper.
