It had been almost a decade between visits to Kauffman Stadium for Jaime Navarro.
And while it's true that this visit is just a bonus for the former big league hurler, it's a trip he would like to repeat as a pitching coach.
He spent this year, his first as a coach, handling the pitchers for the Mariners' Class A Midwest League franchise in Appleton, Wis. He handled some of the Mariners best young prospects, including last year's No. 1 draft choice, Phillippe Aumont.
...
He and Triple-A hitting coach Alonzo Powell joined the Mariners on Monday as extra coaches and will finish the season with the team.
After taking 2007 off, Navarro has set his goal on getting back to the big leagues as a pitching coach. Wisconsin was just a start, although he loved his time there. He had high praise for Aumont and three other pitchers who passed through Appleton -- Shawn Kelley, Michael Pineda and Juan Ramirez -- suggesting all have big league futures.
A place to follow the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League, Minor League baseball, Major League Baseball, and everything in between in that order.

Look who else is up with the M's
The Mariners -- like most clubs -- invite some minor league coaches and managers to join them for the final few weeks of the season. Take a look at this.
