About a chopper

Want the whole story behind this post about the helicopter?

Go over here to RattlersReport.
The sight of a helicopter hovering only a few feet above the outfield grass at Fox Cities Stadium proved to be quite a show for Daniel Carroll.

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers centerfielder recorded the spectacle on his cell phone so he could ship the video clip off to his buddies back home in California.

"I've seen a helicopter dry off a field, and I've been snowed out for five days," the 19-year-old Carroll said of his brief stay in Appleton. "Two new life experiences."

There is video at the RattlersReport link of the chopper from Vertical Services Integration doing its thing. What is that thing?
Chief pilot Daryl Price said he kept the helicopter between one and three feet above the grass and made slow passes back and forth to circulate as much water as possible.

He said the service came with no price tag.

"Our relationship has been fantastic," said Price, who in his nearly 10 years of piloting had never been asked to assist in drying off a baseball field. "We could see stripes that we were drying. So we know we did something out here, and we're happy about that."

Let's hope this doesn't have to happen again.
