Here is how the Rattlers have fared on April 19…since 2000
The Rattlers won 5-1 at Quad City. I was not at this game due to the Green Bay Gamblers being in the playoffs.
Quad City beat the Rattlers 5-4 in Grand Chute. The River Bandits led 5-0 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. John Castellano made his Timber Rattler debut as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run double. Guillermo “Bill” Martinez followed with an RBI double to make the score 5-3. Will Eyre came out of the bullpen and got one out. But, Chuck Lopez singled in Martinez. A Jake Daubert single moved Lopez to third with the tying run. But, the rally fizzled from here. Eyre got Blake Bone to ground back to the mound and Lopez got caught between third and home. Eyre finished the game by striking out Jamie Bubela.
The Rattlers were shutout 5-0 by Cedar Rapids at home. Jaime Steward and Dustin Griffith combined on a two-hit shutout. Corey Freeman had a third inning double and Shin-soo Choo had an eighth inning single for the only Rattler hits.
The Rattlers lost 4-3 in eleven innings to the Cedar Rapids Kernels at home. Matt Hagen tied the game 3-3 with a two-out RBI double in the eighth inning. BJ Weed’s two-out RBI single off Rene Cortez in the eleventh was the game-winning it.
Peoria beat the Rattlers 8-3 at Fox Cities Stadium. Tom Oldham allowed two runs (one earned) over six innings and left with the game tied 2-2. Peoria scored six runs in the seventh inning. A three run triple by Terry Evans capped the frame for the Chiefs.
The Rattlers and Burlington were tied 2-2 in the bottom of the second inning when the rain started falling at Fox Cities Stadium. The game was suspended until April 21.
Wisconsin beat Southwest Michigan 4-3 at Fox Cities Stadium. The Rattlers trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth. Wisconsin scored two runs in the eighth. The tying and winning runs scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Wisconsin lost 3-2 at Beloit. The Rattlers scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Leury Bonilla had an RBI double and a sac fly by Jair Fernandez accounting for the runs. But, Beloit scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth off Joe Kantakevich. A two-out RBI single by Johnny Woodard tied the game and an error on Bonilla in the allowed the winning run to score.
With a record of 2-5 and a suspended game, I deem April 19 crummy for the Rattlers...since 2000.
