SEATTLE (MAJ: 9-8, T-2nd American League West): The Mariners beat Oakland 8-1. Raul Ibanez (Foxes, ’94) had three hits and an RBI for Seattle as the M's picked up the sweep of the A's. Ryan Rowland-Smith (’02, ’03) worked a scoreless inning in relief.
TACOMA (AAA: 8-6, 2nd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 7-6 at Fresno. Brent Johnson (’05) had a pair of hits and an RBI for Tacoma. Tacoma had a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the ninth. But, Fresno scored twice in the bottom of the ninth against Cesar Jimenez to rally for the win.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 7-7, T-4th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 3-2 at Mobile. West Tennessee had a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, but the BayBears scored three times off Craig James (’05) in the bottom of the ninth inning.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 10-5, 1st California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Inland Empire 5-3. Carlos Peguero (’07) and Chris Minaker (’06) each had a pair of hits and an RBI as the Mavs erased an early deficit. Julio Santiago (’05) pitched 2.2 innings and did not allow a run to get the win.
