A new Rattler Radio daily feature

This is something that the Rattler Radio board has been mulling for a while and now with some time to collect thoughts and track down most of the information in the fortress of solitude we are proud to present:

This Day in Rattler History...since 2000.

Why 2000? Because that is as far back as my records go. If I find anything that goes farther back, I'll add it in to the equation. But, for right now, 2000 is the start date on these posts. There may be a few gaps on the highlights for certain games in April from 2000-2003. I was still doing hockey for the Green Bay Gamblers at that time. Where I missed a game, I will note it.

April 11 in Rattler History since 2000:

2000: Rattlers hosting Kane County. Game rained out

2001: Rattlers had a scheduled off day.

2002: Doubleheader in Burlington. One of these games was a make up from a rain out in Grand Chute on April 7. I missed these games because of a Gambler playoff game. A couple of odd things about this doubleheader: #1.) Both games went to extra innings. #2.) Rattler manager Gary Thurman talked Burlington into letting the Rattlers play as the home team in the nightcap. #3.) The game was sent back to the Fox Cities listening area as part of a simulcast by Burlington broadcaster Randy Wehofer. #4.) Timber Rattler fans got to hear what a real baseball announcer sounded like for once.

Game one: Rattlers win 8-5 in 8 innings. Sean Peless was 2-for-4 with two homers and five RBI.

Game two: Rattlers lose 6-5 in 9 innings. Ruben Gotay homered in that game for the Bees.

2003: Rattlers lose 8-5 in Burlington. Donnie Murphy had three hits and three RBI for the Bees.

2004: Scheduled off day.

2005: Scheduled off day.

2006: Rattlers lose 11-10 in 12 innings at Beloit. JB Tucker put the Rattlers up 9-8 with a solo homer in the top of the ninth. But, Edgar Guaramato allowed a run in the bottom of the ninth. Tucker homered in the top of the 12th. But, in the bottom of the 12th, Ruben Flores allowed a single to Paul Kelly and a game-winning home run to Erik Lis. Both teams committed five errors in the game.

2007: Rattlers vs. Clinton rained out.

April 11 appeared not to be a productive day in Rattler history...Since 2000.
