The first inductees into the West Michigan Whitecaps' Hall of Fame couldn't be stronger, as the Class A minor league franchise turns 16 years old this season.I wonder where their plaques are going to be.
Outfielder Robert Fick, catcher Brandon Inge and pitcher Francisco Cordero were selected from 15 nominees, earning the most votes among the Whitecaps' Hall of Fame committee and West Michigan baseball fans, who cast a total of 1,042 votes during last season.
"When you say Whitecaps, these are three of the first guys you think of," said Whitecaps vice president Jim Jarecki, who has been with the organization all 15 seasons. "After 15 years and all the great players that had played here and gone on, we knew as an organization it was time to move on creating a Hall of Fame.
A place to follow the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Midwest League, Minor League baseball, Major League Baseball, and everything in between in that order.
