The Foxes had been 6-0 in Madison during the 1985 season. Then, this game happened. Ken Read gave up four runs in the first inning and would give up a total of seven runs to lose for just the fourth time in the season.
Russ Kibler pitched eight innings, but was never in trouble until the eighth.
Appleton is 82-47 and they are still the top team in the Midwest League's Northern Division.
