Extended in Beloit

The Beloit Snappers and the Minnesota Twins have extended their current player development contract through the 2012 season.
"This is a great day in Snappers' history," said Beloit Professional Baseball Association, Inc. Chairman Dennis Conerton. "We couldn't be happier with the Twins, who have been outstanding to work with since day one, and provide our fans with a very exciting major league product to watch. The Twins, from top to bottom, are a first rate organization and we are proud to continue our affiliation with them."

The Snappers and Twins last extended their PDC on August 14, 2007, which runs through the 2010 season. Today's agreement extends the contract for an additional two years, through the 2012 season.

"We would like to thank the Minnesota Twins for extending their agreement with us," said General Manager Jeff Vohs. "The signing represents the confidence that both we and the Minnesota Twins have in each other. We look forward to keeping this relationship alive through the 2012 season and beyond.
It has been a good relationship. The Snappers have made the playoffs three times and the MWL Championship series once since becoming a Minnesota affiliate.

The starting pitcher for the Twins in Game One of their series against the Yankees tonight is Brian Duensing, a Snapper from the 2006 season. Jose Mijares and Jeff Manship were also Snappers.

Alexi Casilla, the guy with the game winning hit in the 12th inning last night? He was in Cedar Rapids in 2004 and 2005.

Joe Mauer and Jason Kubel and Justin Morneau...they were all with the Quad City River Bandits. So was Denard Span. So were Scott Baker and Nick Blackburn and Jesse Crain and Jose Morales. Nick Punto was with the SWING of the Quad Cities...for a few games on a rehab assignment
