Whitecaps hitting coach Benny Distefano leaves for job with Mets
Benny Distefano, who has been the Whitecaps' hitting coach the past three seasons, has accepted a coaching position in the New York Mets' minor league system.

In 2008, West Michigan was fifth in the league with a team batting average of .257, and this past season compiled the highest team batting average (.274) in the team's 16-year history.
"We were very pleased with Distefano's coaching techniques and teaching methods," said Dan Lunetta said, the Tigers' director of minor league operations. "We wish him well."
