Next from Baseball America

I haven't seen this on their website yet, but in the issue of Baseball America that recently arrived, they reveal their Minor League All-Star Teams for 2009. There is a first team and a second team for all levels and an an All-Star Squad for each level.

Brett Lawrie ('09) was named Second-Team second baseman on the all levels team.

Brewers farmhand Alcides Escobar was named First-Team shortstop on the all levels team.

Looking through the rest of the list:

Pitcher Chris Tillman ('07) and catcher Adam Moore ('06) were named to the All Triple-A Team...along with Escobar at short and former Brewers minor leaguer Matt LaPorta in one of the three outfield slots. Tillman was named Triple-A Player of the Year.

Alex Liddi ('08) was selected as the third baseman for the Class A-Advanced team. From the Brewers system, second baseman Eric Farris and pitcher Evan Anundsen also made this team. (UPDATED: Missed adding this from the Brewers perspective; Brevard County manager Mike Guerrero was the Class A-Advanced manager of the year.)

Baseball America selected Jaff Decker as the Class A player of the year and the Fort Wayne TinCaps as the Class A team of the year.

The manager of the year at Class A is Lakewood BlueClaws skipper Dusty Wathan. Wathan was a Timber Rattler for five games in 1995. I did not know that he was managing. I do now.

If/When BA puts this article on their website, I'll provide a link.
