Tracking down Ryan Ketchner

I may do this as a semi-regular feature this season.

There are players with Timber Rattlers pedigrees who are no longer in the Brewers or Mariners systems, but are still around the minors.

Occasionally, I will find a boxscore with a familiar name in it. Then, I'll share it with you.

Ryan Ketchner was a Timber Rattlers player in 2002. He was traded from the Dodgers to the Mariners. Came back to the Seattle system and was a Southern League All-Star in 2008 with West Tennessee. He ended last season with the Toledo Mudhens, Detroit's AAA affiliate in the International League.

This year he is starting out with Erie, Detroit's AA affiliate in the Eastern League. And he pitched last night.
Erie reliever Ryan Ketchner (1-1) got into a first-and-second jam with one out. Ketchner struck out Altoona's Gorkys Hernandez for the second out and looked to have a called third strike on Jim Negrych, but didn't get the call.

Negrych, who hit a two- run homer off Ketchner in his previous at-bat, proceeded to line a double to the gap in left-center field to score Alex Presley and Jose De Los Santos for the tying and go-ahead runs.
Ketchner picked up the win, although I am almost positive that he would have much rather protected the lead for his team.

In three appearances for the Seawolves, Ketchner is 1-1. Those four runs last night bumped his ERA above six, but it will start coming down again.
