MILWAUKEE (MAJ: 9-11; National League Central): The Brewers lost 7-3 to the Pirates at Miller Park. Prince Fielder gave Milwaukee a 3-2 lead with a home run in the bottom of the eighth. But, Trevor Hoffman allowed five runs in the top of the ninth inning.
NASHVILLE (AAA: 14-6; Pacific Coast League American North Division): The Sounds won 12-1 at New Orleans. Chase Wright pitched seven shutout innings and the offense banged out 17 hits.
HUNTSVILLE (AA: 11-8; Southern League North Division): The Stars lost 12-3 to Chattanooga. The Lookouts scored four runs in the first inning and eight more in the third inning to put the game away.
BREVARD COUNTY (Advanced-A: 7-11 overall; Florida State League North Division): The Manatees won 3-0 at Clearwater. Brock Kjeldgaard (’09) drove in two runs for Brevard County. Chris Capuano (5IP) and Dan Merklinger (’04) combined on the shutout.
