ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Silver Hawks defeated the Timber Rattlers 6-1. South Bend scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning to give Trevor Harden enough support for his fifth win of the season.
TOP OF THE SECOND: Wisconsin took the early lead with a run in the top of the second inning. Corey Kemp drew a leadoff walk. He was still at first with two outs. Rattler catcher Sean McCraw worked the count to 3-2 against Harden. Kemp was running on the payoff pitch and McCraw’s double down the right field line was enough to send Kemp home with the run and a 1-0 advantage.
NO SACRIFICE: That RBI for McCraw was the first time this season he has driven in a run with a hit. He had knocked in his previous two runs with sacrifice flies.
BOTTOM OF THE SECOND: Rattler starting pitcher Evan Frederickson gave up five runs in the bottom of the second inning. There were four hits, two errors, a wild pitch, and a walk in the frame. The run scoring plays were on a throwing error by Frederickson, a wild pitch with the bases loaded, a two-run single by Alfredo Marte, and an RBI double by Justin Parker.
TAKING THE FIFTH: Harden allowed two hits and three base runners over his final five innings of work to keep the Rattlers off the scoreboard. Harden has won five straight decisions. He also leads the Midwest League in wins (5) and innings pitched (37-2/3).

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Burlington Bees beat the Timber Rattlers 12-8. Nick Van Stratten drove in seven runs for the Bees.
SEVEN: Van Stratten picked up his seven RBI with a two-run single in the second inning, a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and a two-run double in the seventh inning.
SIX: Burlington scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning. Wisconsin had tied the game 4-4 with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
FIVE: Of the 12 runs scored by the Bees, only five were earned.
FOUR: Wisconsin committed four errors in a game for the second time this season. Wisconsin was charged with four errors on April 17 at Clinton.
THREE: The Rattlers hit three homers last night. Brock Kjeldgaard hit his team leading fifth. Michael Vass hit his second, a three-run shot that tied the game 4-4. Cutter Dykstra hit his first Midwest League homer in the sixth inning.
TWO: Kjeldgaard has homered in two straight games.
ONE: Wisconsin went 1-2 in the three-game set with the Bees.
ZERO: The Rattlers are 0-7 in road games this season.
TECHNICALITIES*: Due to certain circumstances in the top of the fifth inning, there were two runs that were charged as team unearned runs and a pitcher was charged with a run when a player who reached when the pitcher wasn’t in the game scored. The situation was as follows: Rattler starting pitcher Trey Watten allowed a double and a walk to start the inning and an error loaded the bases. An RBI single and a throwing error allowed two runs to score and ended Watten’s day. Reliever Liam Ohlmann entered the game and allowed an RBI single. Then, a fielder’s choice and a strikeout were the first and second outs of the inning. Van Stratten followed with his three-run homer. Team unearned runs are charged When pitchers are changed in the middle of an inning, and one or more errors have already occurred, it is possible to have a run charged as earned against a specific pitcher, but unearned to the team. Watten was charged with a run that reached after he left the game because A pitcher is only charged with the number of runners that reached base while he was pitching, and this does not include baserunners who reach base as the result of a fielder's choice play that removes an existing runner; such a runner is charged to the pitcher whose baserunner has been removed by the fielder's choice play.

MILWAUKEE (MAJ: 16-12; 2nd National League Central): The Brewers beat the Reds 15-5. Ryan Braun hit a grand slam and drove in a total of six runs for Milwaukee. Prince Fielder and JJ Hardy also homered for the Brewers. Manny Parra pitched six solid innings for the win.
NASHVILLE (AAA: 14-12; 4th Pacific Coast League American North Division): The Sounds lost 7-4 at Iowa. Joe Koshansky hit a three run homer to provide most of Nashville’s offense.

Yeargh! Carl thought it would be a good idea for me to leave the bar...um, stop playing wii Tennis and show up for a post.
Look, the sun is out right now. It may be out later. It may not. Do I look like a weatherman? No! I'm just a simple dromedary that likes...I, mean tolerates the occasional baseball game.
I'm just here because the possibility for some bad weather exists. Mehring has this irrational superstition that if I post something, the rain will magically turn into lollipops and unicorns. Then, he won't have to work a doubleheader tomorrow.
I hate superstitions, too. But, that's a whole other topic.

On Sunday, May 17, Jim Gantner will be on hand for the Timber Rattlers game versus the Clinton LumberKings at 1:05pm. The UW-Oshkosh product played for the Milwaukee Brewers from 1976-1992, appearing in over 1,800 Major League games.The team is working on more alumni for the remaining Sunday home games.
Also appearing at Time Warner Cable Field will be former pitcher Ken Sanders on Sunday, June 7th. The right-hander pitched in 195 games as a member of the Brewers from 1970-72. Sanders saved 31 games for Milwaukee in 1971, which stood as a team record until 1989.
Both Brewers alumni will throw out a ceremonial first pitch & be available to sign autographs for fans in attendance.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Timber Rattlers ended their three-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Burlington Bees. Michael Bowman, Daniel Meadows, and Jim Henderson combined on the three-hit shutout. Brett Lawrie had three hits and drove in both Timber Rattler runs.
LAWRIE LAUNCHES: The Rattler second baseman jumped on a 2-0 pitch from Burlington starting pitcher Manauris Baez with two outs in the bottom of the first inning. The ball one hopped the fence that protects the bike path well beyond the left field wall for Lawrie’s fourth home run of the season.
LAWRIE GETS THE JOB DONE: Lawrie stepped up with runners at first and second with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and blooped in an RBI single to right that sent Sean McCraw home with an insurance run. By going 3-for-4, Lawrie bumped his average to .326 and he leads the team in RBI with 19.
THE THREE AMIGOS: Bowman pitched the first four innings and allowed three hits. He walked one and struck out three. Bowman left after the fourth inning as a precautionary measure. Meadows allowed one walk, struck out four, and did not give up a hit over four innings of relief work. Henderson worked a perfect ninth for his seventh save.
