Chuck Symeon pitched a complete game, struck out 11, walked one, AND drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.  BUT, he took the loss in the first game at Goodland Field for the Foxes since an 11 game road trip to Lincoln, Topeka, and Sioux City ended on July 18.

The Foxes are 48-31 and are in first place in the Three-I League.  Fox Cities leads Sioux City by six games.

Chris Jefts and the Appleton defense had a tough day at Goodland Field.  The defense committed five errors (Jefts had one of those).  The Foxes starting pitcher allowed 12 runs (two earned) on 11 hits in 4-1/3 innings.  Appleton needed third baseman Buck Autry to pitch the ninth (he did not allow a run).

BJ Surhoff went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI for the Brewers.

The loss dropped Appleton's record to 58-35, they still lead the Northern Division of the Midwest League by 10.5 games over Madison.

ATTENDANCE NOTE:  The 976 fans on July 19, 1985 gave the Foxes a home attendance of 45,532 through 50 home dates.  In 1984, the Foxes drew 30,829 in 50 home dates.
