Game one went extra innings and the Foxes got another stellar performance out of Ken Reed. Reed went 7-1/3 innings and allowed five hits. Troy Thomas drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the eighth. Then, Jerry Bertolani singled in a run. A Jim Winters walk forced in another run.
Reed, who won his eleventh game of the season, needed help from Dave White. White picked up his sixteenth save of the season by getting the final two outs.
Game two was tied heading to the top of the seventh inning. The bases were loaded with two outs when Winters sent a fly ball deep to left. Ron Leon misjudged the ball and would drop it for a three-run error and an 8-5 Appleton lead. The Foxes added two more runs in the inning.
Appleton is 74-39 on the season. They are in first place in the Northern Division of the Midwest League by 13.5 games over Kenosha.
