Home Run Research

Khris Davis hit home runs #17 and #18 for the 2010 season in the last two games of the series with the LumberKings. That got me thinking.

I was doing some research over at Baseball-Reference. It's pretty simple...if time consuming. Just go to this page and click through on all of the teams.  Feel free to check my work.

All of this will need to be confirmed because some of the stats are not complete.

If you have been following the Timber Rattlers for any length of time you know that the Timber Rattlers Home Run record is 21. It is shared by Juan Silvestre (1999) and Matt Hagen (2003).

But, Appleton pro baseball has been around for a long time. Someone must have hit more homers than 21 over the years.

Short answer, someone has. A couple of someones. Below is a list of Appleton players (Papermakers, Foxes, Rattlers) to have reached 20 home

PLAYER.............CLUB........YEAR HOMERS
Pat Seerey.........Papermakers 1941...31
Carlos Pascual.....Foxes.......1958...27
Lamar Johnson......Foxes.......1972...26
Greg Walker........Foxes.......1981...21
Juan Silvestre.....Rattlers....1999...21
Matt Hagen.........Rattlers....2003...21
Chuck Weatherspoon Foxes.......1959...20
Sam Bowens.........Foxes.......1961...20
Brock Kjeldgaard...Rattlers....2009...20

So, there you go.  A list of the top home run seasons in Appleton baseball history.

I should have known about Seerey as the record holder.  A Mehring Monday was dedicated to him in October, 2009.
