1976Jarry Park. At certain times, the sun shone directly into the first baseman's eyes so that he couldn't see throws from the left side of the infield. Towels would be placed over the railing of the first base dugout to shield the players from the bright sunshine. There also was a swimming pool beyond the right field fence. This was way before Chase Field in Phoenix.
In the last big league games at Jarry Park, the Phillies beat the Expos, 4–1, in the first game of a doubleheader to clinch the National League East title. Philley takes the nitecap, 2–1. Following the 2nd game, Dick Allen jumps the team in protest of the fact that veteran Tony Taylor is not listed on the post-season roster.
