Baseball History September 9

Complete entry for September 9 at BaseballLibrary.com HERE.

Today's highlighted entry is:

1992
Milwaukee OF
Robin Yount gets the 3,000th hit of his career in his team's 5–4 loss to the Indians. He also becomes only the 2nd player in history to record 200 home runs, 200 SBs and 100 triples, duplicating Willie Mays' feat.

Jose Mesa was a starting pitcher for the Indians and Robin singled into right-center. The thing I remember most about #3,000 was Paul Molitor and Jim Gantner were the first teammates to get to first base and the rest of the team let those three have a moment to celebrate. I think that picture is out there, but I can't find it. This one from jsonline.com will have to do.
