The Fox Cities Foxes had an off day. They were 20-15 and tied with Cedar Rapids for first place in the Three-I league.
From the June 9, 1960 Time Out column by Mike Drew in the Post-Crescent:
The pint-sized Foxes home batboy is Mike Weaver, the 9-year-old son of manager Earl. Mike joined the team when school was out in St. Louis.25 Years Ago Today:

The Foxes trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning. They had a runner on and Jerry Bertolani at the plate. Bertolani sent a hit to center and the ball took a bad hop past the centerfielder and rolled to the wall. Bertolani got an inside-the-park-homer to tie the game 2-2.
Tom Forrester had a three-run homer as part of the four run fourth inning to give the Foxes a 6-2 lead over the Timbers.
Tony Menendez allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits over six innings to move his record to 7-1.
BLAST FROM THE PAST: From the notes section at the end of Gary Shriver's game story: Foxes catcher John Caianiello was a teammate of B.J. Surhoff - the Milwaukee Brewers' No. 1 draft choice - on the 1983 U.S. Pan-American Games team.
Appleton is now 39-17. They hold a 6.5 game lead on Madison in the Northern Division of the Midwest League.
